Bottlebrush - Callistemon citrinus

In the middle of winter, this brave little plant suddenly produced the most delicate, pretty and exotic flower.

It was a rescue plant from my work, where it had been left behind, between life and death, neglected and sad.

I took it home, and it has been outside throughout the summer. I then brought it inside in early November. And now this. I had always looked at the image on the label with great suspicion - pretty much like those wrappers of vegetable seeds that show the biggest carrots and greenest cucumbers, spinach, fennel, etc., but then when I compare it to the fruits of my garden, somehow they don't live up to the pictures on the sleeve. However, not this little baby:

Very nice, and unexpected.
