Linseed oil paint

I've spent a few days stripping the old gloss paint from the bathroom window upstairs. First with a heat gun, then with 'biological' gel stripper.

I really like the way the wood looks after oiling it with linseed oil.

But then curiosity got the better of us, and I did paint it with linseed oil paint in white, and I'm totally impressed with the paint, as it:-

• repels water
• stays vapour permeable (lets the wood 'breathe')
• is very easy to work with (no messy white spirit, as you can wash out the brushes with linseed soap)
• goes on like a dream
• hardens fairly quickly (I found it to be touch dry after about 10 hours, but will leave the second coat now to settle in for a few weeks).

The paint was from Holkham Linseed Paints, now known as the Linseed Paint and Wax Co.
