Free firewood

The more we look, the more we find free sources of wood. This is the year's 'harvest' so far...

 

Just glad that it isn't me schlepping the stuff up the steps.

Although it should be a doddle now, what with them being deeper, shorter and a darn sight less steep. 

 

With so much wood to split, and an axe doing damage to backs, ears and paving, we've gone for the 'lazy' option and bought a gadget to help with the job.

 

This is me in action earlier in the year with our Clarke Log Buster 7, bought from the friendly folks at the new Machine Mart in Luton. Electric-powered, it pushes whole or part-split logs towards a blunt point, where they (mostly) break apart.

 

 

(For those sceptics out there, and I have spoken to some, 'the other half' did most of the wood splitting - Ed.)
