Days Three & Four - the build starts - trying to get it 'EcoRight'

We may not have written up a 'Day Three', but there was progress, and the building site is open for business again.

Now, mixing the mortar. This time we're using a ready-mixed lime mortar from Old House Store in Henley-on-Thames. It's effectively their own brand, under the EcoRight label, and apparently it was used on The Shard in London! It's the eminent (strong) hydraulic mix, as it's a retaining wall and parts of it are quite exposed.

Lenny laying the first brick.

We're keeping the wall covered with hessian from the end of today to try to keep the lime mortar from getting frost damage.

I think the hessian would make a lovely dress, too...

An early 20th century building site in the early 21st century...
