Skirting board - screwed, not nailed!

We've done the impossible... and worked out how to attach skirting board to a wall.

Thanks to Colin and his mitre saw, three days of time, my Black & Decker jigsaw, a 'husband' who is very stubborn, and Tracey giving us hope and lots of patience, we have now got a nice white piece of wood all around our kitchen. Simple pleasures, innit? :-)

Some parts were a little tricky, for example the bit around the kitchen waste pipe...

...and next to the frame for the understairs cupboard.

The OH doing some 'plugging'...

Me countersinking the screws...

Hmm...

Screwing the board to the wall...

And yes, the mitred corners look okay after 'cheating' with a bit of wood filler...

The OH sorting screws...

Hello OCD man! :-)

NB: I cleaned the spotlights and painted the ceiling (while the primer on the skirting was drying)...

The OH painting the boiler pipes with radiator enamel...

The finished product (just got to wait 'til it completely dries to get the little black flies off, who seemed to find the smell of gloss irresistible - well, at least the last thing they did in their life was getting a nice solvent high)...

Phew! On the weekend we'll put the kitchen back in (cooker, worktops, etc.) for good, or at least until we paint the walls and get the window overhauled. No rush.
