Addition in October 2012: this is what it looks like now. It's been well worth the hassle, money, time, and umming and ahing.

Methinks there's something in the human psyche that makes us gaze into the stove like hypnotised rabbits.

Think of the gazillions of years that humankind has settled around a fire. That must have done something to our brains - don't you think?
